Re: The Mystery of Alert Systems.

I wrote that article YEARS ago, back in 2015. I thought I had cited it back then, but maybe not. I still had a bookmarked list of sources I used to make the article, here they are: https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=191&dat=19790826&id=nRNMAAAAIBAJ&sjid=tkQDAAAAIBAJ&pg=6834,36525...

Re: Old style AF timer

Is this one of the older 'horizontal aspect ratio' timers? There's some information here, but sometimes the photos don't load:

Re: Is this tornado/firecall siren still active?

Your honest best bet is to ask someone local if the siren ever sounds. If it's atop a fire station, don't be afraid to knock on the door and ask the people there. In asking fire stations before, the people there have generally been more than happy to answer any questions.

Re: Federal Signal 2001-130 Vs. 508-128

The 508 was created mainly because of regulations that nuclear power plants have requiring sirens that run in the 500 Hz range or close to it. Before FS created the Equinox, which the 508 is based on, the only sirens they had in their lineup that would hit this frequency range were the Eclipse seri...

Re: European siren connection boxes

Do you have a picture of the terminal blocks used to make the actual connections to power and to the siren head? Everything I'm seeing here is just the human interface side of things.

Re: What is the worst siren you have heard?

Yowzas. That things rotator doesn't look like it'll be fixed anytime soon even that clipping sounds horrible. Looks to be a 1981 Gen 1 WS-3000 on a pre-864. Heck it even sounds amazing on fast wail. Does the other sirens in Idaho falls work? (sorry for derailing btw) I think Idaho Falls did away wi...

Definitely looks like an Alertronic of some sort or even possibly a Whelen but I'd rule DSA out because I feel like it would be too new for that
Can confirm it's not a Whelen 2000 series, as they're made of individual arrays like a DSA, instead of mounted to a central box like the Alertronic.
