Re: Sirens In State And National Parks?

I can attest that there are sirens in state parks. Here is Kansas several of the state parks are also part of a reservoir or visa versa...so they have a siren system in place to warn of a tornado warning to campers , boaters, fishermen, etc. etc. and also a siren located at the spillway area to aler...

Re: Unknown siren (mislabeled as Alertronic) in Edgerton, Kansas

....So there I was, in Edgerton :| I did notice the fallowing reference this siren. 1) What Yellow paint that is still visible on the bottom side of the horns appears to be the same Yellow that was used on other various sirens...i.e Thunderbolt, etc. etc. I believe its color is Federal Safety Yellow...

Re: Setting off your county's sirens

...I think where the O.P is coming from is setting off the sirens from the control panel, computer or what ever his county/city uses, under the supervision of who ever is in charge of doing so, present. As far as what the experience would be like....depends .... Here in Shawnee Co. Ks. if they where...

Re: 1942 USN Type H-1 alarm

That .2 (point two) Amp is suspect....the point does not look like any of the other periods used in the nomenclature and .2 Amp would not be enough to drive that siren...2 amps on the other hand, yes. I am not that familiar with the Navy ships of that era.....I am assuming that with the electrical p...

Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

WOW, I am sincerely impressed...and thanks for doing that....my Google Earth posting images leaves some to be desired. Yes, that is it. Its been 15 - 20 years since I was at that spillway and kind of surprised its still around. Another spillway siren system worth looking into would be the one...

Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

I'm not as knowledgeable as most on here about siren types, but I'll try and answer your question as best as I can. It's been years, but I recall seeing what looked like a Model 5 at Lake Perry's spillway. The reservoir system here in Kansas was developed thru out the 60's into the early 70's. The r...

Re: Tillamook, Oregon dam sirens?? (and others)

I cant help you with the dam sirens in Oregon, but... Here in Kansas we have sirens located along the spill way of the reservoirs. A few minutes before the water is released/gate(s) opened, a siren or sirens are activated to warn fishermen or who ever else is present to seek higher ground. A couple ...

Re: Phase Converter/ Motor Question

Tying a phase converter in with electrical power, whether it be generated power or commercial power , is something that that I would advise against. There are more components needed to properly and SAFELY convert the electric phase. I think Federal Signal's mobile siren (a demo unit??? seen one this...
