Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

As I had mentioned one other time in this thread, this school year is the final year Whitaker Elementary is in operation (as well as Brent, Finneytown's other elementary school) before the new Finneytown Elementary School opens this fall. While Brent is going to be converted to the new district offi...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Not sure if anyone was aware, but Clermont County’s system malfunctioned for the test today, due to a lightning strike. A retest will take place at noon tomorrow. https://www.wcpo.com/news/local-news/clermont-county-siren-system-malfunctioned-during-test-wednesday?fbclid=IwAR1n5j4nmDHRH6Dz29jQCEyMoF...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Yeah I asked him about that one as well when I had a list of siren locations within the city limits from 2009, and he pretty much told me the same thing. And yeah, it will be interesting to see what ends up happening to the Tri-County Thunderbolt. Unsurprisingly, Hamilton County cancelled the growl ...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

This afternoon, there was a tornado warning that included southeast Warren County. As I was leaving work, I was surprised to find the 2001-SRNB in Mason facing a different direction. My office has no windows, so we’re typically unaware of weather conditions or any outdoor activity just from being in...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Last I knew, the Crosby Elementary and Shandon 1212s were the only two still standing.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I wonder if they will replace the SRNB as well. I believe it may have replaced an older 2001 of the same age as the others.

Hamilton County has decided to still conduct the growl test today, despite the cold temps and little bit of snow on the ground.

Re: Vintage siren photos thread

Here's a 1953 photo from a newspaper clipping of one of Cincinnati's Thunderbolts being tested for the first time. It was the old 1000T that is on top of Patheon in Reading, Ohio. I'm told that this was the first Thunderbolt installed in Cincinnati, OH. It’s still standing today, but obviously inac...
