You sure its 6v and not 12v? Spin the rotor. Does it freely spin, or spin for less than a second?

The intake cone on a model 2 definatley adds a few dB's. In fact, from what I have experienced, more sound comes out of the cone than from the side. It also gives the siren a "throatier" sound.

Hey Dave, I remember a picture of that control box back with I forget-his-name. (was it Steelman Hiles?) I belive there was even a recording of it on the first siren contest (the other recording of the 2t22 and low tone Federal 7 won the contest). Its the Whelen and 5T entry: http://web.archive.org/...

Wow, I'm so lucky to have never heard one of those in person! They sound AWFUL! Those sirens are nothing more than basically a PA300 with a DSP chip producing the "Q" sound. The E-Q2b sirens have: (electronic) air horn, (Q) Manual, (Q) Wail, and (electronic) Yelp. People just need to stick...

Yeah, that silver-finish one. There is probably a solenoid in the back compartment. B.T.W., this is the older 2001 series, so don't bet on what you'd find now. What are you talking about? The 2001 doesnt have any solenoids, never has, never will. Someone probably put the control box for a Modulator...

Most newer Opticom's will only accept a coded signal, so flashing a strobe randomly at it wont activate it.

That looks like that siren from the old WWII black and white pic of the guy up in the H-frame pole installing the siren (in Hawaii I believe). Anyone got that pic that can post it?
