The only one I know of that does a ramp-up is the Firex 5000 smoke detector. Some panels/NAs can be set so that the strobe flashes 2 or 3 times before the horn kicks in.

Mine would probably have to be one that has evidently been removed. It was of a T128 and a SpectrAlert fire alarm. That or the T-128 demo model at that trade show or whatever. I just heard about this too, I was listening to MNN news on KAUS, and they mentioned the sirens. I immediately came here, even though I knew I'd probably get beaten to the punch. Oh well. And no, it's not me. I'd never ever do that unless I had the permission from our EOC.
