I don't know for sure, of course, but it sure seems that the siren I remember from the late 60s to early 70s was much lower pitched than a Thunderbolt, and much louder too. Although my memory of it has faded over the decades, it seems that it sounded more like an ASC P-50/T-135. Does anyone know whe...

At the time, it was said to be the largest siren in the city, and I think it was located on the roof of the former L.S. Ayers store. I remember hearing it tested when I was little; it was the first w...

In my emailing of local EMA officials in the Indianapolis metro area, I've gotten everything from complete refusal of information (which I ended up acquiring elsewhere :D) to way more information than I asked for. Usually its somewhere in between. Most of the counties in the metro area seem to be f...

My mother still has two of those in her house, in addition to a couple of SAME equipped radios. Do you think she might be willing to let one of them go? I've been looking for this particular model for years! I could even give her my black one if she needs it. The siren on it sounds a little differe...

It has been decades since I was in Northville. But the city is only about 5,000 people, and is landlocked by Northville Township to the south, east and west, and by Novi to the north. That T-bolt has been there since I was little and visited my aunt and uncle there. I didn't know about the other one...

Are you talking about the freq range of the sound emmited, or the freq range of the radio triggering system? I presume it must be the frequency range of the sound emitted. The frequency range of the radio triggering system would depend on the freq. range of the emergency services radios in the loca...
