Re: AR / AF Timer Parts

Hi! Yes, they use 3PDT relays, but they're not octal bases. Octal strictly refers to 8-pin tubes and sockets. Also, that might just be a typo, but the transformers in these do not have a 12V secondary. All of the components inside run off of 110-120VAC. I actually managed to find one AR Timer in my ...

AR / AF Timer Parts

Howdy y'all. I am wondering if anyone could lend a hand with this. I am trying to ascertain the part numbers for a few AR/AF timer replacement parts. Please leave a comment if you're familiar with the make and model number for a drop-in replacement of any of the following: 1) 20RPH Synchron clock mo...

Re: Homebrew All-in-One Control Box (Version 2)

As promised, the test of the GP3 has been completed, and the video link added to the original post. New video also includes a verbal overview of the setup and how it was assembled.

Homebrew All-in-One Control Box (Version 2)

Ladies and gentlemen, it has been a number of years since I posted the thread debuting the first homemade all-in-one control box, now it's time to reveal the new and improved version 2. Instead of using an actual AR timer to control the contactor, which takes up a lot of space, three electronic timi...

Re: BE AWARE OF YOUR RECORDINGS

I really don't think having tones in videos makes a difference. People should be free to add in the tones if it gives them the effect they want for their videos. For me, sometimes the tones inspire an interesting mix of feelings like the panic of setting them off due to some extreme emergency and an...

Re: Secomak Type 447 - Help Please

I know I'm digging up an old post, but it's a misconception that these Type 447's were used in WW2. These sirens were for the Royal Observer Corps during the Cold War for alerting of incoming nuclear bombers. The sirens were not used by the ROC in WW2, although the Centre crews provided enemy aircra...

Re: This picture looks very suspicious...

Pretty sure that picture was taken in Hawaii, looks a lot like how they installed them, that and the tropical plant pretty much sums it up. By "tropical plant", I assume you mean a palm tree? Palm trees grow not just Hawaii, but also the Carolinas, Florida, Texas, California, Arizona, Lou...

Re: Why do you guys hate 2001's so much?!?

The question would be better posed as "Why do siren enthusiasts dislike 2001's?", which is an easy one. They have no outstanding qualities. They seem to get higher pitched with every new iteration. 2001's don't have an attention catching dual-toned sound, nor a classic 8 or 10 port single ...

Re: Carter vs. Secomak Type 447

After restoring both makes of the hand crank 447 siren, I am confident in saying that the assertion the Carter siren is any more "robust" or durable than the Secomak is a flat out myth. There are differences between them, and which one you look for boils down to personal preference. Howeve...

Re: STH-10 Question

So I might be getting an Sth-10. Regarding wiring, I dont need a control box, right? Meaning, is there anything inherently wrong with just giving it power and letting the motor run? Or is there some initial load that needs to be modulated or something? Basically I dont know what a control box is fo...
