Re: Old Siren Mount?

Yes! There was a very old Sterling M-5 on that mount, prior to the Blissfield Twp. FD moving into their new home. It's my understanding that one of the firefighters at the time has the siren in his garage at home.

Re: Van Buren Township New Sirens

Van Buren Township had a Sterling M-10 at their old fire station #2 on M-17 (Ecorse) Road, west of Belleville Road. In downtown Belleville under the old water tower was a Federal model 5AT. This siren was pole mounted when the water tower was demolished back in the 1980s. The last I knew, it was sti...

Re: IS there any siren that do noon blasts near or in washtanaw county?

The city of Saline used to test their sirens at 12 noon every Saturday. You might want to check with them to see if they still do so or not.

MONTICELLO, Ark. — Emergency sirens are designed to warn us in the event of a life-threatening situation – like a tornado. One county in Arkansas is deciding whether or not it will continue to use them.

Re: MORE Alabama Siren Systems Silenced

I guess James Spann is happy. Yes, I am afraid you're correct. He is a great TV meteorologist, but very anti-siren. IMHO, I think sirens are a key component in local warning systems. While I believe every means should be used to alert people in danger, outdoor warning sirens still have real-time va...

Re: Milan, Michigan STH-10 Restoration

Maybe we can find someone to videotape this siren and post it here on this Web site? :)

Milan, Michigan STH-10 Restoration

This Federal Signal Corporation STH-10A, was originally located at the Ypsilanti Regional Psychiatric Hospital (Ypsilanti State Hospital) in northern York Township, just east of Saline, Michigan. It was a replacement for an earlier Federal Model 7A that was struck by lightning in the mid-1970s. This...

Re: RIP Southington, CT First Gen Model 5

This Federal Model 5 was built and installed in the spring of 1931 in Saline, Michigan. The siren in this thread looks like it has a modified outer shroud, or one that might have been made in a sheet metal shop. https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7353/10453382425_9ca450fe88_z.jpg Saline Model 5A by Ron...

Re: Federal Signal 500AT Prototype?

The Dundee Twp. Fire Dept decided to mount their model 500 SH TT on a heavy-duty steel tower in back of their old fire station. They were concerned about the weight of the siren being pole mounted, and not being sturdy enough to support the siren in high-wind situations. This same structure would be...
