Would like to have seen that steam locomotive behind which was the Thunderbolt. That is New York Central, Class L-3a Mohawk engine 3001. This engine is currently undergoing restoration and is a 4-8-2, wheel arrangement. Has a great multiple chime steam whistle as well. http://www.steamlocomotive.co...

You know, after examining these sirens in greater detail, I have to admit that if I was an emergency mgmt. director, I would clearly buy from Lion King, long before I would go with ATI. Moreover, their JDW450-2, and LK-STH21-2 models look very impressive. That being said, I would love to hear some s...

Taizhou Lion King of China, Outdoor Warning Sirens

Here is the link to Lion King of China. Very interesting assortment of sirens they make. Some of them remind of when I went to the Federal Signal plant in Illinois 17 years ago.

There was a similar problem in neighboring Wayne County, with a 1003 over 15 years ago. Apparently, the repair tech came out and somehow damaged the blower motor by mixing some wires up, and the siren was only functioning at half volume. I called up the city EMD director, explaining to him my concer...

Two of the largest suppliers of electrical motors for Federal Signal were http://www.marathonelectric.com/ Marathon Electric and http://www.northernelectricco.com/ Northern Electric. One time, a local fire department needed a single-phase, replacement motor for an older W.S. Darley Siren, and their ...
