Sometimes companies take the peak reading as their output. Peak is the highest "fast" measurement (Lpk, 1/4-second) on the meter. Sometimes, they use max - highest "slow" measurement (Lmax, 1-second) on the meter. For a rotator, the best measurement is with the rotation stopped a...

Output of 3200 watt King Stars

Based on testing - including anechoic chamber tests of the Indian Point ATI King Stars (which is publicly available in US NRC ADAMS) - the 3200 watt Kingstar array (8 400-watt horns in an X-array double-stacked) get 114.7 dBC at 100 feet at 576 Hz. Based on bucket truck testing that I performed in C...

Limerick Siren System

They have a system of 165 T-bolts that are being replaced (as I write) one-for-one with ASC T-128's.

Limerick sirens

They currently have a system of 165 Thunderbolts in the 10-mile EPZ (the 10-mile radius circle around the plant). These are going to be replaced one-for-one with ASC T-128's. So, for an interim period, two sets of sirens will be up, and after the new system receives full acceptance by FEMA, the old ...

Who installed the sirens?

If you look at the picture for the control boxes for siren C30, you will see plainly McCord Communications. McCord is the regional distributor of Whelen throughout the SE US.

Oh, and by the way, the WPS series sirens are voice capable as well.

Visible differences Whelen 2700 / 2800 / 2900 series

The 2700 and 2800 series look pretty much the same, although there are slight differences. For the 2900 series, you will see an access panel on the side of each speaker-driver module, similar to what you would see on a FS Modulator. This allows the driver to be removed and replaced without having to...

T130 - it's a loudspeaker, not a siren

Its claimed output is 130 dB at 1 meter - which corresponds to 100 dB at 100 feet. They don't say at what frequency the 130 dB is measured, so there is no way to know what it is in in dBC or get an idea what the atmospheric attenuation would be. There are a lot of directional horns that are in this ...
