1988 Singapore Civil Defense Force ACA Factory Tour

In 1988, the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) began the search for a nationwide outdoor warning siren system. Throughout that year, they toured various siren companies across the world and in the United States. This included Whelen, Federal Signal, and Alerting Communicators of America to name a...

Re: Banshee Manual

Great find! I have a version of that manual without the acoustic testing photos that I scanned in late last year, along with some other stuff I need to get around to posting: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16sj_Ddhh6CJRlTZwqbt6Z0jKaga0XnlX/view?usp=sharing Speaking of those testing photos, in case ...

Re: The most ridiculous siren installation ever

Oh yes, Sadieville. I came across that thing back in 2016. Here's a thread I made including that siren and a couple others from that day: https://www.airraidsirens.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=20470 Upon further inspection a few years later, Mike and I did find that the breaker panel located u...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Sorry for the double post, but I just got off the phone with the Brown County EMA and the Franklin Township/Felicity Fire Department. I was wrong as far as Brown County having anything to do with them, at least from what I understood from the phone call with them. As far as Franklin Twp. Fire, the c...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Urbanexplorer, perhaps you are thinking of the Darley Model 5 in Newtonsville at the Wayne Township fire department? It's a little ways west of Milford, but it is on OH-131. If anyone is interested, Michael, mrboojay, and I headed out to Tate Township to record one of the prototype EOWS units. That ...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

The two Vortexes Werden has in his lot were removed from Waynoka Lake in Brown County. He replaced them with 128s.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Here's what I know about them: The one in Chilo directly replaced a Zimmer EOWS, specifically ZPNS 20. Not sure when that happened. The one north of Felicity at the intersection of 133 and 774 was installed in 1998, after the downtown EOWS did not work during the 1997 EF-3 (Felicity does have a back...
