Re: Interesting modified Thunderbolt picture

Hmm. I'm guessing that was a top/side of Terminal Tower in downtown. Sure looks like it could be. Finding anything about Cuyahoga County's Civil Defense system is always a treat to me, since it's like finding the needle in a haystack unless you go through any paid digital archives. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Forums have been upgraded! (somewhat!)

I can't upload pictures. Are you sure? For me at least the upload a file section is immediately below the posting form editor, where there is a button to select a local file and field to comment. If you still don't see it, possibly one of the administrators or moderators has disabled a forum featur...

Re: OMG... Look at what China drug to the plate...

I didn't know air-raid sirens were apart of Chinese food...??? Or maybe they're selling siren printed plates now...

I guess I need to get outside more.

Re: History of the Hoover Appliances HOR and others

After a brief two-ish month hiatus, I'll update this forgotten thread of mine: Surely and ironically enough, earlier today I got a chance to talk to one of my uncles whom worked at that factory from the 80s to pretty much when Hoover ceased operations there about that siren. He does remember hearing...

Just curious, when did Dayton start removing their old siren system?

Re: Lawrence Township finally has siren system in place.

Went by the Forty Corners Street location earlier and saw a new shiny Vortex. So their system must comprise of five Vortexes. Should be interesting to hear it in the distance during a Tornado Warning with Massillon's sirens (that is, if the sound carries good at the moment). Also from reading from a...

Re: History of the Hoover Appliances HOR and others

Could it possibly be the kind that is in Hamilton OH? Likely, but I think that is the only up close photo of it that anyone will see of it. It is a single-horn design though. Could anyone assist in listing the available port ratios that were offered to their rotating sirens? Also about their Sterli...

History of the Hoover Appliances HOR and others

Wanting to see if I could get some more in-depth info of a neighboring city's (North Canton, Ohio) CD and old sirens, I've struck some luck. Here is what I could grab at this moment while observing and reading through snippets of public archived newspapers while in a tired mood, so bear with me. Fro...
