Re: General Alabama Siren Discussion

Sorry about the huge bump up. Huntsville's sirens leave a lot to be desired. First of they have the stupid thought of only placing the sirens at schools, park's, and fire departments. This means that rural areas, where people most likely would be outside are not covered. The county really needs to ...

Doesn't seem too loud from 1.5 miles away, but would get your attention if outdoors still.

Re: Sentry’s new Voice sirens

As a Sentry customer, I wish they would have included sound clips!

I have to wonder how the sirens around the county are numbered now, if the one on Slaughter road is Siren # H-56.
The H stands for Huntsville, since that siren sits (although only by a few feet) in the city of Huntsville and Huntsville pays for the maintenance.

Re: New Sentry 20V2T Huntsville, AL

Madison does pay for the maintenance of their own sirens with us monitoring them and activating them. The siren above is a Huntsville siren. Site H-56.

Damaged Sirens

While searching through my old pictures, I came across a few damaged siren photos and thought that they might be interesting to share: From 2005: http://i63.tinypic.com/v8q6aa.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/mlrosx.jpg http://i65.tinypic.com/2jdrtzr.jpg Car that hit the tower: http://i66.tinypic.com/n63v...

Re: A pointless siren failure.

Huntsville at one point had a few Federal Signal Modulators that were killed by lightning, correct? We had 2 modulators in Big Spring Park and one got relocated to Ditto Landing because it lost its home on the parking deck. The one remaining in Big Spring Park got its control box flooded and was re...

Re: New Sentry 20V2T Huntsville, AL

That's one heck of an upgrade! We had a brand new Sentry in the warehouse as a spare. When we determined that the thunderbeam would not be worthwhile to try to refurb, then we put the Sentry up. We have another 20V on order now to serve as a spare. We are also repairing a 2001 (probably SRN) that w...
