Re: sirens on top or near schools

Two public schools here (High Park and Lansdowne) in Sarnia, ON have ATI HPSS-32 units placed directly next to the schools, to warn of chemical spills and explosions as well as severe weather. One is mounted right next to a playground, which I'm sure must be fun for the kids on testing day! The Ele...

Re: Thunderbolt redo in my city

I don't know who did the conversion, but they seemed to want the install to be solid. There was a "random" siren test a few weeks ago, I wonder if the work on this siren is what prompted said test. Thankfully, the area doesn't really seem to be a "bad" area, while not on a main r...

Thunderbolt redo in my city

The other day, I was headed back to work after grabbing some Dairy Queen, I noticed that the T-Bolt I passed had some changes done. It used to be a "double pole" mount, but has been changed to have a brand new concrete pad on the ground for the blower and the 2nd pole removed. Today after ...

Re: What do sirens in your area warn of?

Theoretically: Tornadoes Reality: Siren Tests Let me explain, there have been a few tornado warnings in my town in the years I have lived here, I have NEVER heard the sirens sound for a warning. A co-worker who is a fireman told me that if I hear the sirens, run for cover because the Fire Chief only...

Re: JQH Arena STH-10

I have seen the STH-10, IIRC there is a 2001 series just a few blocks away, I never saw the SD-10.

I was there a few years ago to see Jeff Dunham.

Re: FSPWARE programming help.

Serial port hookup to program something, I deal with that all the time at work programming network switches. You said that when you install the software for the USB to Serial adapter, it comes up as COM5, you may have to tell FSPWARE to use COM5 to get it to connect. I personally have never had an i...

Re: Prison siren systems?

New Mexico State Penitentiary as of 2005 had/has an STH-10, the 2005 remake of "The Longest Yard" was filmed there, the STH-10 is visible in a few scenes throughout the movie. I think I mentioned this on the board a few years ago, but given the thread topic, it fits in here.
