Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

A couple years back, I shared a blurry 1950s photo of the Whitaker with the Thunderbolt visible back when it used to have a long stand pipe. Well somebody shared with me this yearbook cover with different photos of the building under construction when major renovations were done in the late 90s, and...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

While the Thunderbolt on this building was removed over 10 years ago, I just thought I would let you all know that Whitaker Elementary School is scheduled to begin demolition in May. Right now, the expectation is that a new residential development will likely be built on the property.

Re: Thunderbolt 1000 and 1000T

Officially, there is not a way to tell the difference without hearing them. If my memory serves me correctly, they have tags that will indicate "1000" or "1000T" depending on what they were originally built as, but a lot of Thunderbolts have had their choppers replaced at some po...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

For whatever reason, all of the Loveland and Symmes Township 2001s were given the ASC control boxes around 2013. I never heard the exact reason.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Yesterday, I happened to notice that the T-128 on Nixon Street behind the EPA building was no longer there. It still appears in the latest Google street view images from November 2022, but if I get on the Hamilton County Auditor's website and look at aerial images of property around there, the lates...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Well, what do people have to say about the "TunnelBolt" in Hamilton being reverse wired once again? Evidently, it was still running correctly back in May at least.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Apparently, sirens in Butler County were activated last night with no tornado warning issued. Looks like someone said they spotted a funnel cloud around Monroe, but really didn’t.

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

During recent months, I have noticed that the T-128 on Reading Road next to the Norwood Lateral (OH-562) in Bond Hill is no longer there. I do remember when it was first installed, Mr. Werden complained that ANS installed it WAY TOO CLOSE to the street. When I look at Street View pics on Google Maps...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

I’ve just been told that a replacement was finally installed for the T-128 at Springdale Rd & Hamilton Ave that got taken out by a car sometime in the last couple years. The new siren was installed around the corner of Burlington Rd & Hamilton (the north intersection closer to I-275, the two...
