Beaver Valley Station Siren Map

Something I have been working on since 2019 and finished earlier this year with some official information from the utility. BVPS recently ( as of 1/1/2021) decommissioned 52 sirens and has switched from route alerting to IPAWS-WEA as the backup alerting method. https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Goshen Township Fire Station 18 was partially destroyed by a confirmed tornado this afternoon. The yellow Penetrator on top is still standing, but may be removed soon. It's my understanding that nobody got hurt. There are pics on Twitter about it. Here's a news link. You can see the Penetrator if y...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Due to the slight risk of severe weather tomorrow, Butler County has cancelled their monthly test for tomorrow, friend of mine called this morning. Not sure about the others but I’d expect Hamilton and Warren to probably follow as well tomorrow morning. This despite the fact the storms are not expec...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

This is more of having to do with the Miami Valley area, but WHIO ran an I-Team investigation of area communities without sirens, including my own, Bellbrook (which we are now considering purchasing warning sirens, it is down to a matter of how we will pay for them). Also included was Champaign Coun...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Didn't Wilmington get new sirens? I watched Local 12 last night and they stated that Wilmington's sirens did not work during the tornado warning. No they haven’t. The current system (minus a few that came later) were installed between 2002 and 2003 to replace a system of two Thunderbolts, a 2T22, a...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Anyone know if Butler County's radio issues have been fixed? Last month during the test there was a glitch where sirens in the City of Hamilton and possibly elsewhere throughout the county did not activate, and only some of the county's sirens did. Apparently someone had called OEM and they were goi...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Interesting. I wonder if Deerfield Township's 2001-SRN will be part of the upgrade. It's the one at Cottel Park that is up the street from me. If so, I may even try to acquire it. I know it was put in around 1998 before the Blue Ash Tornado of 1999. Federal Field upgraded the controls and battery b...

Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

Unsure if this has been mentioned here at all. It's not too big of a development nonetheless, but Mason this year begun replacing their 2001-DC's (the older "Squareback" units) with 2001-130's. It's part of a capital improvement project the city is doing to upgrade the system. I'm not too ...
