Re: Sarnia Ontario ACA Alertronic 6000R former locations

Sorry for the late reply, no I was never able to find it. I suspect that it was more likely located some where on the Aamjiwnaang First Nations, but that’s speculation. There wouldn’t have been any east of Murphy Rd because before 1991 that part of Sarnia was a township, later called Clearwater.

Re: Sarnia Ontario ACA Alertronic 6000R former locations

Nope, the map is incorrect, it’s saying there was an Alertronic in the local skateboard park (which had an ATI installed in 2014). Instead the Alertronic should be in Lions Park (on the corner of Russell st and Bright St, replace by an ATI in 2002. I witnessed the testing of it in 1994, after they f...

Re: Everything I know about the Alertronic Controllers

Thank you for the info. I don’t “follow” the ATIs, so that was a bad guesstimating on my part. I have seen them being worked on on a few occasions, which is more than the Alertronics. But that make sense as to why I haven’t heard them on Monday recently. I still have the newspaper article dated Apri...

Re: Everything I know about the Alertronic Controllers

Thanks so much for the info. I don’t think these sirens were designed with harsh Canadian winter conditions in mind. It’s my belief that winter, combined with lack of routine maintenance, contributed to their short life span. 9 years.. The current ATI system of 18 sirens (tested every Monday) is now...

Re: Everything I know about the Alertronic Controllers

If you look on siren dudes picture of the control box for Sarnia’s Alertronics, zoom in on the tone generator, and flip it upside down… there is a tag that reads “REV J 4/15/87”, and however these particular ( 12) sirens were configured with a hard windup, and a long wind down. Not sure if that was...

Growl and whoop tests question

My first question is about the short bursts themselves, why a few second (whoop) and not a full 3 minute test? Which brings me to my next question, Are growl/whoop tests done remotely or at the control panel? And my final question and this more so for 1980s-2000s electronic sirens (EOWS, Alertronic ...

Re: Sarnia Ontario ACA Alertronic 6000R former locations

The Alertronics (and their ATI replacements) are on their own system. After some major explosions and leaks in the late 90s early 2000s, the city had no choice but to step up, hence the ATI replacements. The ATIs get tested every Monday at 12:30, but I’ve noticed they are showing their age and need ...
