Re: Cincinnati Metropolitan Area Sirens

This Question is pointed towards carexpertandy, do you know if the Thunderbolt 1000 in Spring Grove Village still operating? You mentioned it was still operational but decomissioned back in December, and wanted to hear if there's been any updates on it?

Re: Abandoned Sentry 10v2t siren in Picher, Oklahoma

I watched the video, and see it is used as a storm siren but, I was about to say, I believe even though it's pretty much a ghost town, that building next to it is an active fire department, I would guess they still use it. There's a similar situation with here in Centralia, PA. The town is slowly be...

What the heck is a thunderbolt 500A?
It was a documentation error, if you look farther into the document it's just the Federal Signal 500A, which according to the document is currently out of production, which would be right for the date it was made.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

That's actually a Model 5. The top lid of the housing is actually not fully down on the siren, that's why the top louver is higher up. It might not even be fedelcode, it looks more like a Federal Signal. Still a cool find.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

I got the chance on our way back from St Pete to stop by Alachua and take some photos of the siren in question, which I can now confirm is an old single phase 8-port Darley 3V8. Just as I suspected from the street view imagery of it, the siren has sadly long since been disconnected from the service...

Ironic, there's a Federal Signal 2001-130 there. It's like they claimed the land as if it was a flag.

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

So, I have always wondered what this siren is. I believe I self identified it a few years ago but I can't remember what it is. I feel almost like it's an M-10, but I can't confirm because I haven't heard it. That would be a Sterling Y-10, the sterling that had coded dampers installed on it. You can...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

As of this post, I was mapping sirens around an area of a Confirmed Tornado near Sulpher Springs, and found this. Singleheaded Custom Something? (Also, hopes and prayers to the people affected by the Tornado) Town is Como, Texas. https://www.google.com/maps/@33.0617811,-95.471958,3a,15y,304.05h,97.4...

Re: Alertronic Siren Locations

I guess I'll give a little update. Lemoyne Ohio has been replaced by a 2001-130, and there is an Active but has not worked since the last test out in New Rochester, Ohio.
