Re: What happened to the Springfield, IL Thunderbolts?

I came to get my 1003 Thunderbolt the same way. Found it out of order on the courthouse, went to the county who then said it was the cities property and they said it was the counties. They both agreed if I hired a crane that had liability insurance and took it away the siren was mine. I had to agree...

Re: General Alabama Siren Discussion

I would be shocked if there weren't several Thunderbolts in a building somewhere on Redstone that were brand new. Flashback to 1965 kids!

Re: RCM Panel Repairs

I was in the same boat. It can be wired up with a simple toggle switch and a cheap timer relay.
Be patient and you will run across a used one like me.
The wiring manual can be downloaded off this site. Look for the owners manual in the pinned post.

Re: Thunderbolt 1003A help and pictures.

Grey looks nice and I'm leaning towards white. I don't want a CD yellow because it's pretty common to find them in that flavor. What do you guys think? You gotta go with Yellow, it's a Thunderbolt for heaven sake. Going with white or grey would be like the Lincoln memorial with a shaved and crew cu...

Re: Thunderbolt 1003A help and pictures.

Good deal! Agastat is just a delayed off relay. In other words it comes on, the cycles off, but continues to run and resets. I think 8 on, 4 off. I used a computer fan for simulation. Wife walks by and looks at it like huh? Women just never understand how proud men can be of their small accomplishme...

Re: Thunderbolt 1003A help and pictures.

My Agastat was bad so I made one out of 3 timers off Ebay. I timed several different T-bolts on Youtube and used that timing. I may still have the drawing of it. It comes on then off, then resets.
PM me if I can help.

Re: How many counties still use thunderbolts?

The one off the Lurleen Wallace building recently came down. It was for sale here. I bought the control box.
He may still have it if you find yourself needing a Tbolt.

Re: How many counties still use thunderbolts?

Walker County in Alabama put up a 1003 after their Model 2 was blown away in the Super Outbreak tornado in 1974. From 1976 or 1977 it was in use until a guy wire broke and it fell over in a storm in 2011. Now she's in my shop getting a make over and soon will be in service at my house. Every boy nee...
