Prototype Cyclone.

I was just seeing if anyone could confirm whether or not that this siren, next to the former ACA factory is the same prototype Cyclone seen in the demo video from 1982. The street view which still has the siren in it is dated and blurry so i can't tell easily. https://www.google.com/maps/@43.2043388...

Re: What kind of blower does this Thunderbolt use?

The entire unit. Not to sound like a "kiddie" but if they replace my favorite siren.... I talked with the Deputy Director and he said that they are trying to keep as many sirens as they possibly can in order to save money, so this siren might actually get fixed and not replaced since I'm ...

Re: Thunderbolt Blowers?

Sorry for a bit of a bump but if you want to be able to tell just the blower apart by sound then the 6M blower makes a pulsating noise, the 5M makes kind of a humming sound with a hissing undertone and the 4M makes a LOUD humming sound. The actual pitch that the blower itself peaks at while running...

Re: What kind of blower does this Thunderbolt use?

Well and I'm sure it depends on the chopper used, how well the blower actually runs, etc... etc... remembering that for most humans to hear a difference in volume, the volume is usually 3 DB variance. However no human is alike and there is speculation that some of us perceive sound differently. The...

Re: What kind of blower does this Thunderbolt use?

I don't think the vented covers would fit a 5 or 6M... 4Ms are pretty loud though... I know the 4 M single tone bolt I recorded a while back shook the parking lot I was in... and it was pretty high up. The vibration really doesn't mean anything though. I've had SD-10's here vibrate the surrounding ...

Re: Genuine "Jailbar?" Bumblebolt found in Sault Ste. Marie, MI

Weird that it is out in the middle of nowhere like that. Sure is a shame that whenever we find something possibly rare like this the street view hasn't been updated in 10 years. I do have a feeling that this may possibly be the one Ty Bellfy did a walkaround of in 2011. https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: What kind of blower does this Thunderbolt use?

Hard to tell. Sure does sound like a 4M blower to me. 5M blowers have a deeper hum to them.

Re: Another question about blowers.

The 6M is pretty potent. The Thunderbolt 1000 at the Randall County Annex is the only siren here that made me reconsider getting close. I've never heard a 5M in person, but i'm willing to bet honestly the difference is probably not that huge. You can only force so much air through a 3/4" by 3&q...

Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

Too small to be a Model 3. Likely a Model 2.
