Re: 3T22 Sandy, Oregon

Very nice to see! I always admire stations who preserve their sirens in ways such as this after taking them down, as opposed to discarding them. They are a piece of station history after all.

Re: Pennsylvania siren map

The Tremont siren is a modified 7T on top of the old firehouse on Main Street. For removed sirens, there was formerly an STH on top of the Dillsburg FD. My understanding it was removed sometime in the early 2000s.

Re: Sirens In New England 2.0

There's a Model 3 (I think) on Onyx Specialty Papers in South Lee, MA. Not sure if it's a fire siren or an old mill whistle, or what. It is just up the street from the Model 5/7 atop the fire station.

It is still a WIP, we are finishing up power plants such as Three Mile Island and Beaver Valley and checking some fire stations. I started in around August, as you can see we have come very f...

OMG, I would HATE living next to there! Hopefully there aren't any railroad crossings nearby. LOL
I don't think there are i checked around there and there weren't any that I could see
I’m kind of glad to hear that LOL. Would be confusing if there were.

What model is this? - Linden, VA

I had seen this siren from a distance for years, but due to it being without its housing, I could never figure out what it was. Well recently, I decided to take a closer look at it. It appears to have 8 ports, and looks like a Federal to me. Low-tone Model 5/7, or does it not look big enough (maybe ...

Questions on Mechanical Railroad Crossing Bells

I love mechanical crossing bells (I’m probably more of a crossing bell fan than a railfan), and was wondering if you think they should ring the whole time the gates are down, only while the gates are coming down, or while the gates are coming down and then again when they’re going up? Personally I t...
