Re: Federal model L

Welcome! We use Federal Signal Model Ls for overhead cranes in our new rolling mill at my work. Overhead cranes typically are 480VAC and 480V to 240/120V transformers are common and usually installed for control power and that includes the siren. This voltage also allows the siren to be used on regu...

Re: Model 3 Activation Problems

EDIT: Do not perform any of the following checks or inspections unless you are a qualified electrician. While I do not think the checks are hard for someone unqualified, it's more for safety if you are not familiar with electricity, the equipment, or the tools. I would feel horrible if someone got ...

Re: My Experiences - Overhead Crane Sirens

I know AK steel in Middletown (my highschool town) has a ton of overhead cranes. If anyone's interested I could ask my friend who works there to take some videos. I've seen some footage before but being a steel mill they have a bunch of other machines around making noise. When they test (if they re...

Re: Is it possible to run a Federal STL-10 or STH-10 on 120V

Now that it's been proven, we need to get a circuit for that bad boy to get that 240V... a motor starter too... and control panel... with remote control... and indicator lights. (or strobes) Just one more wire. That's all it is... right? :D I'd also like to point out that general use 3 phase dual-vo...

My Experiences - Overhead Crane Sirens

Man, it's been awhile since I posted here. I've been working as an electrician at a steel mill, and have taken an interest to indoor warning equipment. I thought I'd share my observations here and some stories just to see if anyone finds it interesting what is used out there. It's probably exactly w...

I wonder if it's a custom housing or some sort of old siren design. I go...

Re: Is the 508 siren no longer in production?

Nah, I'm sure it's just a lack of updating as stated. Testing I'm sure has been done way before a public posting of the siren.

Cheers,

Re: My NE IL Siren Photos (Some Rare)

Okay, I understand double posting is a shameful thing to do. Hear me out though, I just realized how far behind I am with sharing with you guys my siren photos, so here's the deal. I'm going to cram as many as I can in this single reply and wait 4 hours and do it again. These are in Danville, IL. I'...
