Re: Need some tips with making a wooden siren

I might also make a 12/10 siren, what gives the 2T22 and castle castings its characteristic creepy sound? Is it the blades they use?

Re: What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

Since i'm planning a wooden air raid siren I'm making soon, I'm not sure if it's better to make it 9/12, or 6/8, or even 3/4. I would do a low one since it wouldn't take as long to cut out all the blades, and this siren is hard to make. The motor i'm using can't be more than 4000 RPM or the wood wil...

Re: What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

I think the only difference is that a 10/12 is an octave higher, and slightly lower volume. A model 2 has a port ratio of 4/5 A 10/12 Port 3T22A spins at 3450 RPM, a 5/6 Port Thunderbolt 1000AT on Chopper Level 5 spins somewhere around 6960 RPM, so they're actually nearly the same pitch. To answer ...

Re: What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

This is a video of a 7/10 tritone siren, the HOR super sirex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A81DMPD-zrI

My least favorite would be the perfect fifth, such as the 10/15 decot siren. It just sounds bland to me

Re: What is your favorite siren port ratio/interval?

My favorite is the 7/10 tritone, if I want a scary siren, and 9/12 perfect fourth if I want a happy siren

8/10 technically shouldn't be eerie because that is a major third, which is a happy sounding interval
