Re: What happens to old sirens if they don’t go to West Shore Services

Blue Valley Public Safety (here in the Mid West) might take them, Purple Wave auctions, private auctions, sold for scrap, given away, sold to private parties, rehabbed for use by other cities........

Re: Oldest Thunderbolt sirens in existence

...No apologies needed... I can recall my late Father ,at one time, telling about the warning system at Forbes. He was stationed there in the late 50's - early 60's. He spoke of the sirens, but didn't elaborate on what he remembered them looking like. This conversation took place many years ago, pre...

'70's movie & T.V siren mystery solved (for me at least)

For the longest time , I have been trying to figure out who made the vehicle siren that was used pretty much exclusively in movies and television in the 1970's. The sound was a very distinct wail and yelp combined together. The Federal Signal PA 300 Interceptor, which I own, has both wail and yelp b...

Looks like a B&M siren of some sorts, it seems to me that the original motor burned out and as such they either took a rotor off and slapped a pully there to keep the siren working.
....I dunno, that top picture looks a bit squirrely if you ask me.

Re: Chrysler in New Zealand

I wonder how much horsepower and torque the siren can handle... I would imagine quite a bit of both horsepower and torque in seeing the way that the siren ,sans engine, was constructed back in the day. Keep in mind that those original Chrysler 331 C.I.D power plants where highly sought after by the...

Re: Chrysler in New Zealand

I would imagine that when the siren found its new home, it was Chrysler-less. The original 331 Hemi that powered the siren was also quite popular with the drag racers, so as a siren became decommissioned and put out of service, the 331's could be had for pennies on the dollar...or as I imagine "...
