Unless I am mistaken, that appears to be a single-headed MARS siren. If it is, then consider yourself very lucky. To the best of my knowledge, no one else (On these forums anyway) currently has a MARS siren in their collection. As for whether it can be repaired to run again, I'll have to yield the f...

DAEC 4004 Monthly Test (Revisit)

Today was monthly test day for the DAEC sirens, and I decided to re-visit the older DAEC 4004 I had recorded early last year. I think this video turned out a lot better than the first one...except for the annoying tractor plowing the field right next to where I was parked during the test. http://www...

Fort Hood sirens during shooting

I was hesitant to post this considering the specific nature of this video, but I figured some might still wish to see it. It's from the recent Fort Hood shooting. http://www.breitbart.tv/raw-aftermath-of-fort-hood-shooting/ Approximately one minute into the video, several sirens are heard sounding t...

Sirens from our annual Wisconsin cheese run

Every October, my father and I take a drive up to Mount Sterling, Wisconsin to get some cheese curds. Today was that day. This year we took a different route than usual, so I had some new sirens to take pictures of. I certainly was not disappointed. The first siren spotted on the trip was in Cuba Ci...

I already posted this in the "highest mounted siren" thread a year or so ago, but it's still one of the oddest siren mountings I've seen so far. The SD-10 in Center Point, Iowa is mounted on the water tower...the very extreme top of the water tower. I imagine it's quite fun to work on that...

I was able to get a few pictures of the black T-128 from a couple different angles. It's actually a dark battleship gray color instead of pure black. Even the pole and control boxes are painted the same dark gray color. http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll132/bigloudnoise/Sirens/-%20Outside%20Iowa/...

Found: Omaha's Black T-128

It's been mentioned many times before that there's a Black T-128 in downtown Omaha, but unfortunately with no pictures or details on the exact location. Well, I finally found it. It is by the parking lot at the intersection of Dodge and 33rd, on the north side of the road. I didn't have my camera wi...

One thought I had...perhaps this was done in an attempt to generate a dual-tone sound? If one siren is configured to run at a different pitch than the other, this could possibly create a dual-tone sound. Just a guess on my part.

Well, I took a ride down to Grinnell today to get some pictures of the Soundmaster. This is what I came up with: http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll132/bigloudnoise/Sirens/Grinnell/th_20090705_DSCF4152.jpg http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll132/bigloudnoise/Sirens/Grinnell/th_20090705_DSCF4153.j...
