Just a vent. The only music sirens in the US are a few unconfirmed first gen units. All 12 second generation units have been found and all are in Japan. There's also a duct on the side.
No known music sirens have existed within the United States.

Re: How far away have you heard a siren?

On a still day I can hear the Westphalia MI 3t22 run it's noon blast 6 miles away and I can hear the City of Saint Johns 2001's at about 9 miles away. One of those is mounted high on a hospital, so I'm not surprised I can hear it.

Re: “Weltex” siren identity confirmed - E.D. Bullard Model 3H

More new info! Recently the Camas Valley FD in Oregon restored their Bullard, and posted about it on their facebook. They mentioned that it had a 10HP motor, although I am still skeptical of the given the size and volume of these, and the way E.D. Bullard did the model numbers of their other sirens...

Nice find! That should be a fun project. Any motor in mind for it?
A period correct 3 ph 5hp motor was donated by a fellow enthusiast who does not use the internet.

Re: 1917 Denver Quadruplex siren restoration thread

Update, got the bearing caps off, what do ya know, sleeve bearings like a small block chevy 🤣. Everything appears to be in good shape with the exception of the rear rotor. I was actually able to get it spinning, though with the damage to the rear rotor hub it definitely rubs. Next step will be remov...
