Both of those sound much better. Either they are wired up with better voltage or they are the early 10 horsepower version of the STH10. The newer 7 1/2 horsepower sounds weak! They don't ramp up to speed fast enough and sound sickning.

STH10 STH10 STH10

hmmm, I am all for mechanical sirens over anything else but I gotta say I'm not a big fan of the STH10.. Why does it's wind up sound so underpowered! They sound like they are ready to burn-up and short out. The model 5 and 7 stand tall above this thing anyday.. Nice ripping fire in the background! h...

Installed around ground zero? Why? I have not heard that. It wouldn't make sense to install them after the fact and if they were up before hand then that spells conspiracy... once again...

Sirens aren't used in NYC anymore because the FDNY is paid and there are no severe weather threats to the NY area's. Civil Defense sirens from the 1940's to the 1970's were for bombs and fall out during the cold war era. Since the cold war is over and Bombs these days are so powerful, the use of sir...

How long was H.O.R. in the siren business? What caused their demise? With the end of the Civil Defense era there was no more high demand for siren's anymore. Federal Sign & Signal was the top seller and made it through the down crunch of warning signal sales. So companies like HOR, SIRENO, Game...

H.O.R. ( Hear Our Roar) siren company was an exclusive siren Co. to the New York City area. They were located in Staten Island. Over 300 HOR sirens were installed in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx & Staten Island... None exist today as the city took them all down in the late 1980's when Civi...
