Re: Post your Mystery Sirens here.

They are sirens of local manufacturers that probably do not exist anymore since Spain and Portugal seem to have completely switched to electronic systems. They are similar to Argentinian KINGVOX sirens. http://kingvox.com.ar/producto/1tv30-si ... -exterior/

Re: Siren siemens schurcket

Hi there. Chances are your siren is an FM SI 36 variant, manufactured between 1935 - 1941.

Re: The 'permanent' CTI thread

Unless the motor has been changed, this siren can't be european. All sirens in Europe, France as well, use AC squirrel cage totally enclosed motors (IP 44) with connection boxes.

If the hp is low you can easily connect it to a capacitor and the siren will be fully operational. Only with a slower wind up.

Re: Another siren test from Athens, Greece

Poor design for sure. The way the roof is mounted is inefficient in weather protection or sound propagation.

Another siren test from Athens, Greece

It's the annual October nationwide siren test. This time I chose to record this new EVENTECH S-30 siren. EVENTECH is a Greek company which has lately (10 years or so) entered the warning siren field. They are pretty simple in design and compared to VILMA sirens, almost... primitive (Design and quali...

Re: Gigantic French siren in Brazil

A very old siren. Those early French sirens had enormous horns and the motor was connected to the rotor via a bevel gear. "Superb" and "perfect" sirens from India (!)

I came across these interesting videos from India. The sirens with the funny (almost hilarious) names are variations of the standard carter-like style of India. It seems there are a lot of small companies - machine shops that produce these types. They look pretty raw and primitive to me. 3wQkYDOye7w...

Re: Sirens of the Eastern Bloc

I believe I may have found a siren of some sorts in a picture. This picture is of a Soviet SU-22 ground attack aircraft in Peenemünde, which I believe was formerly in East Germany. However, I know Peenemünde was a Nazi testing ground in WWII, so maybe this could be a Third Reich era siren? It's in ...
