Farley and Hatch

Farley is in the process of replacing it's three sirens and the current bunch of tone alert radios to cover the rest of the EPZ with ~87 Whelen 2909 sirens. ~40 of them will be in Houston County, ~7 will be in Henry county and the balance will be in Early County. System should go online next year so...

Point Beach and Kewaunee

Point Beach and Kewaunee share an EPZ (that's an emergency planning zone, for those who don't know the lingo). Their ACA museum pieces have been replaced with T-128's. But I did enjoy seeing operating P-50's, P-15's, P-10's, Allertors and Cyclones. However, nuclear plants are under pressure to repla...

Peach Bottom and TMI

TMI is replacing all of their cats and dogs with T-128's. That process is about to start.

Peach Bottom will be after that. They will be replacing all of their T-bolts (and one or two 2001's, I think) with T-128's. That is supposed to happen next year, if I remember correctly.

Limerick has replaced all of their T-bolts with T-128's. The sirens sit side by side at all of the existing locations. Once FEMA ...

Claimed ratings

Most of the vendor ratings are based on peak output - especially for electonic devices. When they first ramp up, the drivers are cold and very efficient, that is usually where a brief "bump" in the output occurs which drops off quickly. The 2-mile to 70 dB (over flat ground) for a T-135 is...

They had electronic voice messages in English (male voice) and Spanish (female voice) that could be downloaded off their site. They were for the CSEPP facility in Pueblo CO. I use the tornado warning announcement as the sound when I open Windows on my lap top. It freaks people out in airports.
