Re: Fort Worth Replacement Sirens Installs

Really Nice work. Surprised the city hasn't put up some nice heavy concrete bollards around the base of those. Would be cheaper than replacing the Vortexes yet again when the drunks run them down, but then again we wouldn't get to see the cool pictures of the new ones going up if they did. -b-

Re: The T-128 and the mystery of the mammoth cabinets

Pretty sure that these large cabinets are for extra battery capacity over the stock 3 cabinet setup. The 3 on the UNT campus and the Flower Mound sirens are the only ones I have seen like that, though I have never personally stuck my nose in any of these cabinets.

Re: Eerie 05/31/13 Moore, OK

Think I agree with the chick recording the first video. Sounds like the Choir of Doom with the constant higher pitched Mods and then the more bassy Bolts popping in and out below them.

Re: Looks like garland finally got their act together....

Well, they got a wakeup call April 3 of last year with the tornadoes going through both Dallas and Tarrant counties simultaneously and the tornadoes in Granbury, Cleburne, and Ennis this year. So yes, tornadoes *do* happen here. If they didn't heed those warnings, it would probably take a hit on the...

Re: Looks like garland finally got their act together....

Was always sorry to see the Hurricanes go, but I will take Vortexes there over the ATI junk any day.

Those are called tone modules or tone reeds.

Murata doesn't make those any longer, they just do ceramic filters for radios now.

Brinkley Electronics appears to have some for sale here and continuing higher in pitch here.

Hopefully they'll have what you need.

The interfering signal sounds like P25 to me. Probably intermodulation distortion from another transmitter elsewhere in the band.

Compare it to http://www.dvara.org/p25/p25-undecoded.wav which is undecoded P25 as heard by an analog receiver.

The beginning of this clip was on NBC Nightly News last night during their coverage of the storms, could hear the Ultravoice clear as day.

Was wondering if it was a Mod or what, but the question is answered.

Sing Baby Sing!!!!!

The T128 pointed away + the 2t22 has quite the harmony.

Next time get further away from the T-128 so it doesn't overpower the others so bad when it turns on axis.

In most of my schooling, the tornado warning was just an announcement over the PA system, and out into the halls we'd go. The only time it was ever for real was one occasion in high school where a downburst damaged the roof of the gym building. I was pretty thankful I was in 5th period English class...
